Luke joined the UCRC as a freshman in the fall of 2024. He really enjoys the challenges and camaraderie that come with a team sport, and wants to help the team perform at its best on and off the water. Luke is working towards a BSN through UC's College of Nursing, and hopes to bring that same level of care to the team.

OWEN MATTHEWS

Owen joined rowing in the fall of 2023 as a freshman. In high school, he ran a business that helped him save money for college. At UC, he continues his pursuit of business with a major in entrepreneurship. As far as athletics, Owen likes to do outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and kayaking. He gets even more involved with these as a member of the mountaineering club. In rowing, Owen hopes to get onto the novice record board and turn himself into fierce competition at the regattas. He also loves that friends he has made on the team.

JACKSON MOSER

In fall of 2023, Jackson joined the rowing team as a freshman with some experience in water sports. He's tried sailing, kayaking, and canoeing, but now he can add rowing to the list. In high school, Jackson participated in some other activities too. He played in band for couple of years meanwhile staying busy with the Boy Scouts. With the Boy Scouts, Jackson was able to go camping and backpacking, continuing Jackson's experience with outdoor activities. At UC, he majors in environmental studies and hopes to thrive with the rowing team!

DAVE PATEL

Dave joined the rowing team during fall of 2023 as a freshman. He is a Cincinnati local, growing up near West Chester, and joined crew because he was looking for fun and competition. In high school, Dave played the tuba. At UC, he is in exploratory classes, but is also exploring new experiences with UCRC!

William Joined UCRC in the spring 2024. He enjoys the unique set of physical and mental challenges that push crew members and admires the sense of camaraderie that comes with pulling a shell. He is pursuing a degree in biochemistry and intends to go to medical school. In his spare time, William can be found reading classics, playing his guitar, or planning his next adventure.

David joined rowing in the fall of 2023 as a third year student. In high school, he competed in swimming, cross country, and track. He also joined ski club to fill up some of his free time. At UC, David studies environmental engineering and will continue in competitive sports with UCRC!

Jonathan Zimpfer
Novice
Jonathan is in his first year here at UC studying Physics and Mathematics. In high school, he participated in a multitude of sports including Cross Country, Track, and Swim. A non-individualized sport like Rowing was something new to him.
After high school he joined the Air Force Reserve. The teamwork and skills he learned in the Air Force have been beneficial to his rowing experience. In his free time, Jonathan likes to unwind with some video games, go on a run, or go out with friends. He is looking forward to a new challenge and new friends as he begins his rowing journey.
